“The coalition government with PDP is run as per Agenda of Alliance. Because of coalition compulsions, BJP is not speaking about abrogation of special status or Article 35-A,” Sat Sharma, BJP State president and legislator from Jammu told KNS.

Sharma said that the party will not speak about the petition on removing Article 35-A till Supreme Court gives its decision.

“Our party has decided not to give any view point on the article till the Supreme Court delivers its decision on the petition on removal of Article 35-A,” Sharman told KNS.

The petition in Supreme Court, presently pending before a three- Judge bench of the court, on removal of Article 35-A has created a row in the state, with Opposition parties warning of a “revolt far greater than Amarnath land row” and Hurriyat leaders having called for ‘Kashmir Bandh’ on August 12.

The government said that it is seriously defending the article in the court and has engaged best constitutional expert of India, Fali S Nariman, to contest the petition in the apex court.

Earlier, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has said that if Article 35-A is tempered with, there would be no one in Kashmir to hold tricolour. (KNS)
